Police close Kelowna neighbourhood to deal with distraught man

Kelowna Mounties closed off an area of Lakeshore Drive Sunday afternoon to deal with a distraught man.

A report of a man in crisis making weapons related threats was made just before 1 p.m., and officers tracked it down to a residence in the 500-block of Radant Road in Kelowna.

RCMP said in a statement that their officers immediately closed down the area due to the potential threat to the public.

With the assistance of the Southeast District Critical Incident Program Emergency Response Team, local RCMP contained the area and the man was apprehended a short time later without incident.

He was transported to the hospital for treatment.

RCMP said no further information will be released in regards to this investigation.
