iN PHOTOS: Clear Okanagan, Kamloops skies meant great views of satellite train
Okanagan residents have captured images of SpaceX satellites sailing across the night sky.
“That does appear to be a satellite train, which would be from the May 4 SpaceX launch of 60 Starlink satellites. They are slowly moved into their intended orbits after their launch, and first appear as a string of beads moving together across the sky,” said Aaron Boley, UBC physics and astronomy professor via email today, May 5.
Mark Halpern, UBC physics and astronomy professor, said the satellites will later spread out across the sky.
Okanagan residents weren't the only ones to report the satellites last night, May 4.
Seattle’s weather service also reported the bead of satellites shown across the sky on Twitter.
Looks like this is associated with today's @SpaceX Starlink satellite launch from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. More information here: https://t.co/oCgTYmVApO https://t.co/xpATMZpeXs
