RCMP searching for suspect vehicle after hit and run in Kelowna

Police in Kelowna are looking for a BMW SUV after a hit and run involving an 11-year-old boy in Glenmore.

RCMP say the boy was riding a scooter, with two other children walking alongside, when the grey BMW SUV failed to stop at a red light and collided with him.

After he was struck by the vehicle at the intersection of Glenmore Road and Kane Road, the boy, who had minor injuries, continued on and told his parents about what had happened, according to an RCMP media release. The scooter received minor damage.

The incident was reported to Kelowna RCMP on April 13, just after 2:45 p.m., but not by the driver, police said. The driver did not stay at the scene and did not report the incident.

Witnesses described the driver as a Caucasian male between 16 and 20 years of age, with dark brown or black hair. The female passenger had either blonde or light brown hair.

Anyone with information about the incident can call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. Should you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or www.crimestoppers.net.
