Kamloops city employee confirmed with COVID-19, second case this month

A Kamloops bylaw officer has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating.

The City of Kamloops said in a press release the city employee "may have had minimal contact" with the public on the North Shore Feb. 18 and 19.

The employee was using PPE and physical distancing at that time, however, the release said.

This is the second positive case from the City of Kamloops in February, the previous was confirmed on Feb. 11.

"We are following our established safety protocols related to workplace exposure and cleaning, as the well-being of our employees our community remains our highest priority," chief administrative officer, David Trawin, said in the release.

No further information is provided from the city, to maintain privacy rights of the employee.

Interior Health is conducting contact tracing.
