No bail for U.S. ski coach facing child pornography charges

VERNON – A U.S. ski coach who allegedly planted a camera in his pupils’ bedroom during a school trip to Silver Star Mountain Resort was denied bail today.

A tired looking Jason Paur, 43, heard the decision today in Vernon Provincial Court. He has been in custody at Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre since his arrest in December.

He faces ten charges including voyeurism and making or publishing child pornography.

Following his arrest in B.C., U.S. federal agents searched his Washington State home and discovered several videotapes involving students.

Paur’s defense lawyer Richard Barton argued he should be released on bail conditions, but judge Jane Cartwright sided with the Crown, Margaret Cissell, that he should be detained.

Paur is scheduled for an arraignment hearing next Wednesday.
