Pair of burglars arrested after Kelowna parkade storage room heist

Police have arrested a pair of burglars in Kelowna after a storage room break-in, and both men already had court conditions for similar crimes.

Kelowna RCMP arrested Jason Turner and Jerry Grimson after a break and enter and theft from a storage room in a parkade in the 3200-block of Richter Street, according to a press release from police issues today, Nov. 19.

On Nov. 8, Grimson was arrested at his home while Turner fled on foot and was eventually found in a nearby shed by Police Dog Services.

Officers found stolen items from the parkade in Grimson’s yard and returned the items to their owners.

RCMP also searched a vehicle that it believes the pair used in the break-in and seized various burglary tools.

The BC Prosecution Service approved charges against the men including break and enter, and possession of break-in instruments.

Turner was on court-imposed conditions for break and enter when the storage room break-in happened. Grimson was on bail for similar crimes and had conditions that included electronic monitoring.

Both men are being held in custody and set to appear in court.

“These proactive strategies show the continued commitment by the Kelowna RCMP to the community in focusing on repeat property crime offenders,” Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay said in the release.

Victims of property crime have been encouraged to report it to Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
