UMBC visits Virginia after Johnson’s 23-point showing

BOTTOM LINE: Virginia plays UMBC after Kymora Johnson scored 23 points in Virginia’s 80-35 win against the Bucknell Bison.

Virginia finished 17-15 overall a season ago while going 9-8 at home. The Cavaliers averaged 8.1 steals, 5.6 blocks and 15.6 turnovers per game last season.

UMBC finished 7-10 in America East action and 4-10 on the road a season ago. The Retrievers averaged 57.3 points per game last season, 23.2 in the paint, 13.1 off of turnovers and 7.4 on fast breaks.
