High school choir to join Foreigner on Kelowna stage

A Kelowna high school choir group is joining the classic rock band Foreigner on the Prospera Place stage next month.

The Ecole Kelowna Secondary performers won a contest among other Okanagan choir groups, getting the chance to sing with the British-American outfit when their tour stops at Kelowna’s biggest venue.

“I’m really excited,” KSS student Thomas Abresch said in a GSL Group news release. “I think my dad’s super pumped, this is definitely his jam, and it’s my jam too. I really love 80s music, and I really love Foreigner.”

The students will join the performance of the band’s single “I Want to Know What Love Is” on stage at the Nov. 7 concert.

“When I saw the ad, it was just like, obviously a no-brainer that I would enter my students into this competition because they need this experience,” teacher Sheila French said in the release. “I know it will change their lives. And I know that they’re going to love it.”

The contest came with a $500 donation to the school’s choir program.

Foreigner’s “Juke Box Hero Tour” includes a performance by Canadian band 54-40. Tickets can be found online here.
