It’s hard to say for certain how the tourism industry in the Okanagan is doing until some more numbers are collected.

The numbers we have now show that while people are still visiting they’re just thinking about ways to save money on their vacation.

Here are the numbers:

  • 186,788: People flew through Kelowna airport in June, up roughly 10,000 from last year.
  • 83: Per cent hotel occupancy in Kelowna in June.
  • 26: Airbnb rentals are wide open from Aug. 14 to 30 in Kelowna.
  • 10: Tips for saving money while travelling in Kelowna provided by Tourism Kelowna, from free activities to savvy moves like booking your stay for the middle of the week rather than the weekend.
  • 43: Per cent of Canadians told a pollster they can’t afford a vacation this year.
  • 60: Per cent of Canadians said they were planning a vacation this year, down 10 per cent from 2024.
  • 3,825: Dollars is how much the average Canadian plans to spend on vacation this summer.
  • 59: Per cent of Canadians plan on staying in Canada for their vacation to save some money.
  • 7.4: Per cent less Americans came into Canada in July 2025 compared to July 2024.
  • 2.3: Per cent more travellers from the U.S. came to B.C. so far in 2025 than in the same period in 2024.
