Montreal woman dies from injuries after being struck by falling tree branch

MONTREAL — Quebec’s coroner’s office says a 76-year-old woman who was struck by a falling branch in a Montreal suburb over the weekend has died.

The coroner identified the victim as Ljubica Milicevic Vukobradovic of Montreal.

Firefighters, paramedics and police were dispatched to the scene at about 12:50 p.m. Saturday near the corner of Queen Mary Road and Macdonald Avenue in Côte-Saint-Luc, an on-island suburb.

A local resident was performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the woman when first responders arrived.

She was transported to hospital with a serious head injury and passed away a day later.

A spokesman for the coroner says an investigation led by Dr. Mylène Servant will aim to establish the causes and circumstances surrounding the death.
