Man wanted in connection to Shuswap stabbing arrested in North Okanagan

A wanted man, who has been charged with attempted murder in relation to a Shuswap stabbing incident, has been arrested in a North Okanagan park.

Alexander Boucher, 36, was seen Sept. 18 at roughly 9:45 a.m. An off-duty police officer was travelling in the 800 block of Middleton Way in Coldstream near Vernon when she spotted Boucher, according to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP press release.

The off-duty officer called for assistance and followed Boucher to provide updates on his location.

Boucher fled on foot once officers arrived on scene. After a brief foot pursuit through residential properties, officers contained Boucher and arrested him without incident in a nearby park.

A 30-year-old man bleeding from stab wounds showed up at the doorstep of a Blind Bay home in the Shuswap on Aug. 16. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Three men have been charged with attempted murder in connection to the stabbing, including Boucher.

Boucher remains in custody pending an appearance in court on a future date.
