Surrey RCMP seize Corvette when more than $50,000 cash is discovered inside

Surrey RCMP officers seized a 2019 Corvette and more than $50,000 in cash after they pulled over the suspicious vehicle during a routine traffic stop late last week.

During a Surrey Gang Enforcement Team traffic stop in Whalley, Friday, Sept. 11, police noticed one of the vehicle's occupants sitting in the lap of another in the front seat of the two-seate black 2019 Corvette.

The driver was given a violation ticket for having too many passengers, according to the RCMP in a press release.

As the investigation advanced, police found bundles of bulk cash in the car, estimated to be more than $50,000, and packages of steroids.

All three individuals, who are known to police, were arrested for possession of property obtained by crime. They were later released at the scene and no charges have been laid at this time. The vehicle was seized and the investigation is ongoing, RCMP said.

This is the third time in three weeks the gang enforcement unit have seized cash and crime-related property as a result of vehicle interdiction, RCMP said. Previous traffic stops on Aug. 31, and Sept. 6, led police to seize cash in upwards of $10,000.
