Former manager returns to Penticton from down the road in Summerland

A familiar face is returning to Penticton’s city hall after a brief stint in Summerland.

Minutes after the District of Summerland announced the departure of chief administrative officer Anthony Haddad today, Sept. 15, the City of Penticton announced his return, slightly more than a year since leaving for the Summerland job.

Haddad, the former Penticton director of development services, will be back at city hall in the newly created position of general manager of community service.

"With COVID-19 negatively impacting the City’s finances, it became important to have a streamlined and efficient senior management team,” Penticton’s chief administrative officer Donny van Dyk said in a media release. “Given Anthony’s strong track record of managing numerous files efficiently and effectively, as well as the respect he’s earned within the City and community, we’re delighted to see him return.”

The City now has three general manager roles, including that of chief financial officer Jim Bauer, who has been appointed to the new position of general manager of finance and administration.

Mitch Moroziuk continues to occupy the only previous general manager position, that of general manager of infrastructure.

Summerland Mayor Toni Boot said in a media release from the District it’s hard to believe Haddad had only been in his role for just over a year.

“Anthony leaves us in a good, strong place to continue with council’s priorities and other initiatives he has started," Boot said in the release. "Although Anthony will be missed by both council and district staff, we wish him all the very best."

Haddad worked for the City of Penticton as director for development services from 2009 to 2014, leaving the City only to return again in 2016.
