Man accused in violent Penticton home invasion released on bail

A man accused of being involved in a Penticton home invasion last fall, in which shots were fired, has been granted bail.

Josef Bretislav Pavlik appeared before Judge Michelle Daneliuk in Penticton court this morning, Aug. 25, for reconsideration of bail. He was originally denied bail on April 8, 2020 in spite of court delays and fears of COVID-19 infection in the province’s correctional centres.

He is accused of break and enter, robbery, assault with a weapon and uttering threats in connection to an Oct. 2, 2019 home invasion.

Pavlik, who was born in 1982, and co-accused Jesse Mason, allegedly broke into the home of Michael Paseka and his partner Sarah Edwards on Winnipeg Avenue, assaulting Paseka and firing a gun in the residence before fleeing.

Daneliuk consented to the bail when she got a following a new plan for bail.

Pavlik will be under electronically monitored house arrest 24-hours a day in a Summerland residence and is on $12,500 bail.
