iN VIDEO: Watch this spectacular time-lapse of Neowise comet over Vernon

A North Vancouver photographer has captured stunning imagery of the comet Neowise passing over Okanagan Lake in Vernon.

Placing her camera on a tripod and setting a timer, North Vancouver resident Nicole Howell snapped close to 1,000 photos of the night sky over a five-hour period from the lakeside close to Ellison Provincial Park. Merging the photos together shows a dramatic skyscape and comet C/2020 F3, more commonly known as Neowise, passing over the Okanagan Indian Band and Adventure bay.

Several attempts to photograph the comet were hampered with cloud, but on July 19, a clear sky shows the newly discovered comet passing through the sky.

The camera was set to an exposure of 15 seconds and took a photograph every 18 seconds. The results allow anyone who doesn't want to stay up until the early hours of the morning to see the comet.

Anyone who wants to see the comet will have to act quickly as the comet won't be back for another 6,800 years.
