Steve Nash Fitness World gyms go through rebrand prior to reopening

Following this week’s earlier announcement that a group of investors has acquired the rights to Steve Nash Fitness World, the B.C. based company is rebranding before reopening in early July.

Guided by new owners, Fitness World will undergo a brand overhaul, according to a news release from the company.

A Steve Nash gym has been located in Kelowna since 2015.

"The company aims to reopen select locations in the first week of July, with full access to the workout floors, group fitness, and small group training sessions. Each location will enforce stringent health and safety measures as outlined by B.C.’s Restart Plan," according to the news release.

Fitness World will look to honour all existing service agreements with members, including pre-paid memberships and personal training services. In addition, current members whose memberships have been frozen due to COVID-19 will be able to extend their freeze during the month of July if they so choose, according to the news release.

In addition, Fitness World has pledged to donate equipment from closed locations to communities in need and will also offer remote training and support sessions with topics ranging from using fitness equipment safely to achieving individual fitness goals. Organizations interested in receiving donations can contact donations@fitnessworld.ca.

The change means the company will also drop the name of one of B.C.'s most recognizable athletes. Two-time National Basketball Association MVP Steve Nash sued the company after an internal dispute before finally settling in 2018.
