Kelowna cops seize thousands in cash after spotting drug dealer

Kelowna RCMP officers seized cash and drugs after they noticed someone dealing drugs out of a car downtown earlier this month.

Officers with the Proactive Enforcement Unit saw a vehicle acting suspiciously in the 1200 block of St. Paul Street on April 11, according to a press release from police issued today, April 21.

After watching the driver, police pulled them over for a traffic stop and found more than $8,600 in various currencies as well as some drugs. The driver was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking, RCMP said.

Police then got a search warrant for a home associated with the driver in the 550 block of Coronation Avenue. When officers searched the house they found roughly three kilograms of cocaine and another $14,000 in cash.

“The Kelowna RCMP detachment and its Proactive Enforcement Unit is dedicated to the safety of the public and targeting the local drug traffickers,” Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay with the unit said in the release.  “Our teams will continue to hold those responsible who negatively impact our community.”
