Penticton RCMP arrest intoxicated man who offered ride to teenaged girls

An intoxicated man was arrested on the Penticton Indian Band reserve after attempting to offer a group of teenaged girls a ride earlier this week.

RCMP say Penticton Indian Band residents reported a man driving a car who drove up beside several teenaged girls who were walking around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5.

He first asked the group for cigarettes, then asked if they needed a ride, according to an RCMP media release. The teens refused, aware he appeared intoxicated.

The man drove off but was subsequently located by police who found him to be grossly intoxicated.

He was arrested. RCMP do not say what charges he faces.

At around the same time, RCMP say a man was seen driving his vehicle up and down a Penticton street. He pulled over and spoke to a woman working in her front yard. He told the woman she “looked pretty,” at which time the woman told him to leave.

The man departed without issue.

Police would like to identify and speak to the man, who is described Caucasian and 30 to 40 years old, wearing a black hat and shirt and driving a silver Ford F-150 pickup.

The two incidents are not believed to be related, police say.
