Suspect sought following brazen daylight robbery in Penticton

Penticton RCMP are seeking a suspect involved in a robbery that occurred at a Martin Street business this morning.

Police responded to the Martin Street location around 11:30 a.m. today, April 2, after a suspect entered the business with a bag, saying he had a weapon, according to an RCMP media release. RCMP do not say which business was robbed.

No weapon was displayed and the employee complied and handed the suspect cash, who then fled the scene. No one was injured in the robbery.

"Officers converged in the area, and followed up on a possible residence on Westminster Street which may have been involved," Penticton RCMP spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in the release. "However, the suspect was not located there, and the address is not believed to be involved."

RCMP describe the suspect as a Caucasian male, 40 to 50 years of age and wearing a grey hooded sweater, black pants, and carrying a small black cross body pouch.

“Fortunately no one was injured in this bold, day-time robbery. Our officers are following up on numerous leads and hope to have this person in custody soon,” Grandy said.
