West Kelowna power outage due to single vehicle crash

Power was out for a portion of West Kelowna Tuesday night after a vehicle left the roadway and collided with a power pole.

West Kelowna Mounties were called March 31 at 11 p.m.,to the 3400 block of Elk Road when a white BMW headed southbound on Elk Road failed to negotiate a corner.

It left the roadway, and struck a power pole.

"The driver and a woman passenger were not injured as a result of this collision," Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in a press release.

"Speed is believed to have been a factor in this collision"

The driver, a man, was issued a violation ticket under the BC Motor Vehicle Act."

BC Hydro was called to repair the damage to the pole.

No further information is being released in this matter.
