Toddler dead, woman injured after they were hit by a car in a parking lot: RCMP

SQUAMISH, B.C. – Police in Squamish, B.C., say a toddler is dead and a woman is hurt after both were struck by a vehicle in a parking lot.

RCMP say the incident happened at around 6 p.m. Friday outside a grocery store.

Mounties say the two were taken to hospital, where the two-year-old child was later pronounced dead.

They say the driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with investigators.

RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

Officers closed down the scene for multiple hours Friday night as they investigated.
