PENTICTON – An Oliver man accused of bombing a car is headed to trial this summer.

Eric Olivier Daoust, 23, was in Penticton Supreme Court today to find out his next court appearances are July 22 for a pre-trial conference and Aug. 25 which kicks off a three-to-four day trial. Daoust has been charged for placing or throwing explosive to damage property.

His young brother, Stephan Wesley Daoust, 19, earlier pled guilty to the explosive charge and an assault charge for using bear spray inside someone's home. He received a 90-day intermittent sentence.

The two brothers were arrested in August in connection to placing a pipe bomb beneath a car outside of an Oliver residence between Okanagan Street and Earle Crescent. The device damaged the car and a garage wall when it exploded. No one was hurt but residents were startled by the noise. Judge Gale Sinclair had commented citizens might have thought "the Taliban had come to town."
