Same address, different trailer destroyed by fire

OLIVER – Fire officials say a trailer that burned down Jan. 2 was suspicious.

Oliver firefighters put out a burning fifth-wheel trailer "fully involved" with flames off Highway 97, on No. 6 Road. Fire spokesperson Rob Graham said this was the second time in 12 months a crew responded to the same property. The first trailer fire happened earlier this spring. He said the second fire appeared suspicious.

A resident nearby told the crews someone lived in the trailer but a search found no one inside, Graham said. No one was reported injured and no other structures were threatened. Graham said the fire was being investigated by the Oliver RCMP detachment and fire officials. So far, no cause has been determined.

Calls to the RCMP were not returned by publication time.
