A 77-year-old cyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck this morning.
Kelowna RCMP responded to the collision at the intersection of Highland Drive South and Lamby Place around 8:30 a.m. today, April 10, according to a press release from police.
RCMP said a large pickup truck collided with the cyclist and he was taken to hospital, but died of his injuries.
The crash happened as the pickup driver was going eastbound on Highland Drive and hit the cyclist who was going northbound on Lamby Place.
The driver stayed at the scene.
RCMP don’t say what if any charges will be laid as the investigation continues.
“It is not necessary for us to share any further information at this time, and we offer our sincerest condolences to the family,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Michael Gauthier said in the release.
