iN NUMBERS: Super wet March for Kamloops, Okanagan

This past month was the second wettest March ever recorded in the Okanagan, but Kamloops didn’t see quite as much rain.

Luckily for warm weather enjoyers this coming weekend has some sunny days.

“We’re going to see temperatures climb into the upper teens, even touching 20 Celsius,” Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon told iNFOnews.ca.

“Sunday night into Monday, that’s when we’ll see temperatures get back down closer to normal, mid-teens, along with a chance of showers as well.”

Here are some recent numbers for rain and snow:

• 49.5: Millimetres of precipitation in Kelowna, more than double the average.
• 1899: The year we started recording precipitation in Kelowna.
• 55.3: Millimetres of precipitation in Penticton, also more than double the average.
• 16.5: Millimetres of precipitation in Kamloops, barely above average.
• 1896: The year we started recording precipitation in Kamloops.
• 52.5: Millimetres of precipitation in Vernon last month.
• 148: The average number of sunshine hours in Kelowna in March.
• 166: The average number of sunshine hours in Kamloops in March. 
• 341.6: Metres of depth in Okanagan Lake.
• 6: Degrees Celsius in Okanagan Lake, perfect for a swim unless you’re a chicken.
• 559: Centimetres of snow fell on SilverStar Mountain Resort this winter.
• 229: Centimetre snow base at Big White Ski Resort, hit the slopes while you still can.
• 209: Centimetre snow base at Sun Peaks Mountain Resort.
• 462: Centimetres of snow fell on Apex Mountain Resort this season.
