UPDATE: Heavy snow on the way

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – More snow is in the forecast for the North Okanagan, Shuswap and North Thompson areas.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for the North Okanagan and Shuswap regions at 1:54 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, calling for approximately 10 cm of snow. By 7:30 p.m. the warning was extended to include the North Thompson and increase the amount of snow expected to between 10 cm and 15 cm.

The mountain passes along Highway 1 between Eagle Pass and Rogers Pass are also expected to receive 5 to 10 cm of snow overnight and another 2 to 4 cm Friday.

A strong frontal system will move through the B.C. Interior Thursday evening and overnight. It will gradually move out of the region early Friday morning.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. For information on emergency plans and kits click here.
