iN VIDEO: After years of winter damage, optimistic outlook for peach crop at Vernon orchard

Peach trees at Davison Orchards in Vernon are looking healthy without any bud damage coming out of the winter months after suffering major cold weather damage for three years in a row.

The orchard grows several varietals of apples, pears and peaches, with peach trees being the least hardy in cold weather.

“Of course, we’ve had two or three pretty tough winters particularly for peaches,” owner Tom Davison said in a video he posted to social media on March 11. “This past season we still had a few cold weeks in February but it wasn’t nearly as harsh as the previous couple of years.”
