Second clandestine drug lab discovered in North Okanagan

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP have discovered a clandestine drug lab just east of Armstrong.

There’s an ongoing investigation into the suspected drug lab on a rural property in Spallumcheen, according to a press release from police.

The investigation began earlier this week when officers went to a property on Reservoir Road and saw materials that indicated there might be a drug lab there.

Police got a search warrant and after executing it officers found more evidence that drugs were being produced there.

“It’s expected there will be a continued police presence at the property for several more days,” North Okanagan RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski said in the release.

“At this time, there is no immediate risk to the safety of the public. The RCMP Federal Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response Team (Federal CLEAR Team) is deployed and is assisting in assessing and safely processing the scene.”

This is the second time a drug lab has been found in North Okanagan in the past six months.

RCMP dismantled the largest and most sophisticated drug superlab in the country near Falkland in October last year.
