Man in hospital after fight in middle of Penticton street

Penticton RCMP are investigating an assault in Penticton that left a man with serious injuries.

Officers were called to a report of two men fighting in the middle of the street in the 1700-block of Main Street just before 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, according to a press release from police.

During the altercation one man was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

Several RCMP members went to the area and found a 28-year-old man nearby and arrested him. He has been charged him with aggravated assault.

The suspect is in custody and is set to appear in court on today.

Police determined it was a targeted assault and there is no threat to public safety.

“To protect the integrity of the investigation no further details will be released,” the RCMP release read.

Investigators are still looking for any witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage from the area around the time of the assault. Anyone with information has been asked to contact RCMP at 250-492-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and reference file number 2025-1483.
