71-year-old woman hit by pickup in Vernon crosswalk

A 71-year-old woman was hit by a pickup truck in a Vernon crosswalk Saturday night.

The woman was struck at around 6:15 p.m. Jan 25, in the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Silver Star Road, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP say the woman was crossing Silver Star Road in the crosswalk when she was hit by a pickup turning left from Pleasant Valley Road onto Silver Star Road.

She was taken to hospital by ambulance paramedics with serious, life-threatening injuries. RCMP don’t provide an update on her current condition.

Investigators say speed, alcohol and drugs were not factors in the collision and the driver of the pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Members of the RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstruction Service continue to investigate.

If you witnessed the collision, and have not yet spoken to police, call Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quote file #2025-1254.
