Three police officers were injured while arresting a man in Kelowna yesterday.
RCMP were called about a distraught man in a restaurant in the 2100-block of Harvey Avenue around 5 p.m. on Jan. 27, according to a press release from police.
A physician directed officers to arrest the man and a physical altercation took place. More officers were dispatched to the scene and they eventually managed to arrest the man and take him to hospital even though he wasn’t injured.
Three officers were hurt during the arrest and were admitted to hospital, and all three are now recovering at home.
“This is now an ongoing criminal investigation, and we will respect the privacy of the officers and all others involved,” Cpl. Michael Gauthier said in the release. “Anyone who may have witnessed this incident and has yet to speak with the police, is asked to phone the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-330 and reference file number 2025-4816.”
