Chinese buyer snaps up Lake Okanagan Resort

WEST KELOWNA – Lake Okanagan Resort has been sold to a Chinese buyer.

The 300 acre property north of West Kelowna was previously owned by Calgary based Northwynd Resort Properties.

It includes a nine-hole golf course, 158-slip marina, tennis courts, a 240 room hotel and 15-acres of undeveloped land. It also has the only beach on Okanagan Lake licenced to serve alcohol.

It was listed for $10.1 million, however the actual sale price has not been disclosed.

According to Global Okanagan, the new owner is part of a Chinese tourism organization which plans to upgrade the resort from three to five stars over the next three years.

Although the new owners plan to cater to members of their own tourism club, the resort will remain open to the general public.
