Canada beats Scotland to advance to women’s championship game at world juniors
TALLINN, Estonia – Edmonton’s Kelsey Rocque booked her ticket into the final of the world junior curling championships with a 9-2 page playoff win over Scotland on Saturday.
After each team exchanged singles in the first and second ends, Canada— which is undefeated at the tournament— blew the game open with three in the third.
Deuces in both the seventh and eight ends would force Scotland to call the game after eight.
The two countries will have a rematch on Sunday in the championship game after Scotland rebounded for a 6-1 win over Sweden in the semifinal.
The Canadian men, led by Winnipeg’s Braden Calvert, will face Switzerland in the gold-medal game after it downed Sweden 9-4 in their semifinal.
