ALBANY, N.Y. – New York state will invest $9 million in the Belleayre Mountain Ski Resort in an effort to boost tourism in the Catskills.
The money will go toward efforts to expand and modernize Belleayre’s Discovery Lodge, which officials hope to make a year-around destination. The improvements include a new fire sprinkler system, an expanded rental shop, more space in the on-site restaurant and more room on the outdoor deck.
The office of Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the work should be completed in November 2019. The resort is operated by a state entity. More than 140,000 people visited last winter.
Cuomo’s office also on Friday announced new improvements to roadways and walkways in the Hudson Valley area intended to improve access for motorists and pedestrians.
