‘Stay home, stay indoors’ as latest storm slams New England with snow, dangerous winds

BOSTON – The latest winter storm to sock New England is adding dangerously high winds to the heavy snow falling across a region that has already seen 6 feet of snow in some spots.

The National Weather Service says a half-foot of snow fell across a wide area overnight, with the Massachusetts coastal community of Ipswich getting 20 inches. Coastal areas of New Hampshire and southern Maine could see up to 2 feet.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker had at least some good news Sunday morning: high tide was not as severe as anticipated and there are no reports of major flooding.

But Baker warned that winds gusting over 60 mph could bring power outages.

There will be bitter cold, too. Temperatures below zero are forecast for Sunday night.
