UPDATE: Missing Kelowna man found deceased in forested area

KELOWNA – The search for a 74-year-old Kelowna man came to a heartbreaking end Wednesday night.

"Last night (Oct. 2) at about 7 p.m., two hunters found my dad up in the bush, further out then he was supposed to be," Gordon Solloway's daughter, Sheri said. "I really don’t have a lot of information yet, but I want to thank  everybody for bringing my dad home — I appreciate it."

Cpl. Meghan Foster said Solloway was located deceased on the Victor Forest Service Road. 

"At this time, criminality is not believed to be a factor in Mr. Solloway’s passing," Foster said."The BC Coroners Service is also investigating in an effort to determine his cause of death. Mr. Solloway’s family has been notified of his passing and the Kelowna RCMP Victim Services are continuing to support them."

Solloway was last seen filling his vehicle with fuel in Black Mountain in Kelowna at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 26 and police believed he was headed to nearby James Lake to sight-in a rifle.

Searchers went down all the Forest Service Roads between that gas station and around James Lake and found no sign of Solloway — or his grey 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

A day after police said they were suspending their search in that area, Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Meghan Foster said they moving their investigation elsewhere.
