Quebec police officer dies after patrol car crash

SAINT-AMBROISE-DE-KILDARE, Qc – A Quebec provincial police officer is dead after her patrol car crashed on Wednesday evening.

The 23-year-old officer was alone in the cruiser and responding to an emergency call at about 7 p.m. ET when the crash occurred.

Police have not yet indicated what may have caused the crash, nor have they commented on the nature of the emergency the young woman was driving to.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and the cruiser was destroyed.

The unidentified officer died in hospital several hours after the crash.

The accident occurred in the community of Saint-Ambroise-de-Kildare, northeast of Montreal near Joliette.
