Orchard Park mall in Kelowna to shrink some more

KELOWNA – Kelowna's Orchard Park mall is applying to the city for permission to shrink for the second time in five months.

In April, the city's largest mall received permission from the city to chop 38,000 square feet off the former Sears location and add 263 parking stalls.

On Monday, Sept. 16, council will be asked to allow the mall to cut another 14,600 square feet from the former Sears Home site and add another 126 parking stalls.

The rest of the space will be divided into five shops, but there is no indication in the report going to council on what businesses might will occupy those spaces.

The report going to council also says the old Ernie’s Place Neighbourhood Pub site will be converted into parking and that entrance to Dilworth Drive will be closed.

Sears closed its doors in January 2018.
