KINGSTON UPON HULL, United Kingdom – Hull City manager Steve Bruce is interested in Toronto FC striker Jermain Defoe but says the England star’s price tag may be too high.
“There’s always speculation, you ask any club in the bottom of the division, all of us would say yes,” Bruce said of Defoe according to British reports. “Whether we can do it financially is another problem.
“If he becomes available, which I believe he is, then we’d love to do something. I think it might be too expensive but it’s not a bad bit of speculation.”
Defoe’s future in Major League Soccer has been cloudy since Toronto turned down a club-record transfer bid at the end of the summer transfer window.
Hull (4-9-7) defeated visiting Everton 2-0 Thursday, rising to 15th in the Premier League table.
