Most actively traded companies on the TSX

TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,980.15, up 7.18 points):

ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. (TSX:PLI). Biotechnology. Down five cents, or 2.38 per cent, to $2.05 on 7.5 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aircraft, rail equipment. Up eight cents, or 1.95 per cent, to $4.18 on 7.4 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down 16 cents, or 7.34 per cent, to $2.02 on 6.7 million shares.

Athabasca Oil Corp. (TSX:ATH). Oil and gas. Down 10 cents, or 3.25 per cent, to $2.98 on 6.5 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down 32 cents, or 6.67 per cent, to $4.48 on 6 million shares.

Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G). Miner. Down $1.35, or 5.61 per cent, to $22.73 on 5.9 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Metro Inc. (TSX:MRU). Grocer. Up $8, or 9.70 per cent, to $90.50 on 651,801 shares. The company reported a profit of $115.6-million or $1.32 per share in its fiscal fourth quarter, beating analyst estimates of $1.29. Its revenue in the fourth quarter was up 3.9 per cent from a year earlier, rising to $2.7 billion, while Metro’s same-store sales were up 3.1 per cent.

TransCanada (TSX:TRP). Oil and gas. Up $1.50, or 2.68 per cent, to $57.50 on 1.9 million shares. The company’s shares climbed after CEO Russ Girling said he expects the company’s dividend to grow at an average annual rate of at least eight per cent through 2017.
