Some quick facts about the top 1% income earners in Canada
OTTAWA – Canada’s biggest income earners lost some of their share to the other 99 per cent between 2006 and 2012, according to Statistics Canada data.
Here are some facts about Canada’s highest echelon of income earners:
Their share of the country’s overall income in 2012: 10.3 per cent.
Their share of the country’s overall income in 2006: 12.1 per cent.
Minimum income of members who were in the one-per-cent club in 2012: $215,700.
Number of members who were in the one-per-cent club in 2012: 261,365.
Proportion of 2012 one percenters who were women: 21.3.
Proportion of 1982 one percenters who were women: 11.4.
