Suspect in Kelowna knifing sought
KELOWNA – Kelowna Mounties are on the search for the man behind an early morning knifing.
Emergency crews responded to the 1100 block of Bernard Avenue today, July 25, at 6:15 a.m., for a report of an assault with a weapon that had just occurred.
Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey said, in a press release, that police have learned that the victim had exchanged words with an unknown man in passing.
"The verbal confrontation quickly escalated to the victim allegedly being slashed with a knife that was produced by the suspect," O'Donaghey said.
The victim was provided with medical attention at the scene by BC Emergency Health Services paramedics, who transported the man to the hospital for further treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening in nature.
The suspect, who fled the area on foot, has been described to police as a Caucasian man, 25 to 30 years of age, who stands approximately 5'6" tall, of slim build, with short dark hair. He was seen wearing a black and white backpack and blue jeans.
“Investigators are asking residents, business owners and motorists who may have been in the area around the time of the altercation, to conduct a review of their video surveillance or dash cameras,” Cpl. O’Donaghey said.
