Vernon RCMP seek information on hit and run involving house
VERNON – Vernon RCMP are appealing for witnesses after a vehicle crashed into a home before driving away last week.
According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, the residents felt their home shake and heard a "thunderous sound" when the vehicle crashed into their home shortly before 9 p.m. on July 18.
No one in the home was injured in the hit and run that happened in the 3900 block of Okanagan Avenue.
The yard received extensive damage to its landscaping and a fence, while the home received what appeared to be minor damage.
"Witnesses report seeing a dark coloured sedan fleeing the area at a high rate of speed just moments after the incident occurred," RCMP media relations officer Const. Kelly Brett said in the release. "Given the damages to the property, the suspect vehicle will most likely have significant damage to its front end and will be missing the driver side mirror."
Anyone with any information is urged to call the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leaving a tip online at www.nokscrimestoppers.com. Information that leads to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward.
