Calgary judge sentenced father who slit his infant son’s throat last summer

CALGARY – A Calgary man who slashed his infant son on the throat and abdomen has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Police responded to a 911 call on Aug. 13 of last year and found an angry and agitated man and a baby inside a home.

The baby boy had been cut several times with a kitchen knife and was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

The infant, who was 11-months-old at the time, has made a full recovery.

The Crown has called the case horrific, and said the man is lucky the boy didn’t die.
