DHX Media Ltd. signs five new Teletubbies licensing deals in Britain

HALIFAX – DHX Media Ltd. (TSX:DHX) has signed five new licensing partners in connection with its plan to produce new Teletubbies episodes.

Financial terms of the agreements were not immediately available.

DHX said Thuesday that Ravensburger has licensed rights to produce themed puzzles, while MV Sports has licensed rights to produce wheeled and outdoor toys.

International Greetings has been signed as licensee for the arts-and-crafts category and Rainbow Productions has acquired rights for greeting cards.

Gemma has licensed rights to produce costume characters of the Teletubbies, Tinky Winky, Laa Laa, Dipsy and Po.

The company said the licensees are expected to launch products in Britain in 2016, with other regions to follow.

DHX announced earlier this year that it would produce 60 new Teletubbies episodes for BBC’s CBeebies channel.

The new episodes will feature Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po as characters, however the series is expected to undergo an update with new computer-generated visual effects and scenes shot on replica models of the sets.
