Fire northeast of Silver Star currently being held

NORTH OKANAGAN – A fire burning northeast of Silver Star Provincial Park is currently being held.

B.C. Wildfire Service confirmed the fire at Bobby Burns Road, which was discovered June 1, is 0.8 hectares in size and is being held by six firefighters and one piece of heavy machinery.

A spokesperson with the Kamloops Fire Centre said the fire is burning approximately 16 kilometres northeast of Silver Star Mountain Resort and southwest of Mabel Lake Provincial Park.

The fire was likely caused by lightning, and not human caused as B.C. Wildfire had reported previously.
