Kosovo cuts 2 years from Serb’s jail plotting terror attacks

PRISTINA, Kosovo – A Kosovo appeals court has reduced by two years the sentence of an ethnic Serb for preparing terrorist attacks.

Kosovo’s Appeals Court on Monday decided to lower the 13-year jail sentence to the Serb, identified by his initials S.G., by two years “taking into consideration the fact that the defendant accepted the incriminating actions,” according to a statement.

The Serb man was arrested two years ago near the U.S. embassy in the capital, Pristina, after police found 23 explosive devices weighing 12 kilograms (26 pounds) he had transported from Belgrade, Serbia. He was accused of plotting a terrorist attack and endangering Kosovo’s security and constitutional order.

The Serb claimed he wanted to sell the explosives.

A Serb minority lives in Kosovo, which in 2008 declared independence from Serbia.
