Magnitude-6.7 earthquake hits off coast of Guam; no tsunami warning issued
HAGATNA, Guam – A strong earthquake struck off the coast of Guam on Wednesday, causing minor damage and power outages.
The magnitude-6.7 quake was about 30 miles north-northwest of Guam and 80 miles deep, reported the U.S. Geological Survey. A tsunami warning was not in effect.
The Pacific Daily News reported (http://bit.ly/1uFSVnU) that most southern villages with power outages had it restored within a few hours. The newspaper reported that power is out at Mount Santa Rosa, Yigo.
No injuries have been reported, and there are no reports of damage to roads or bridges. Asan-Maina’s mayor reported broken glass in the village, and the mayor of Inarajan reported a transformer down.
