Blue Jays slugger homers in first rehab at-bat with class-A Dunedin

DUNEDIN, Fla. – Jose Bautista started his rehab assignment with a bang.

The Toronto Blue Jays slugger, who’s been on the disabled list with turf toe since June 17, hit a solo home run in his first at-bat of a game with the class-A Dunedin Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Bautista also grounded out and struck out in Dunedin’s 8-5 loss to the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

Bautista is expected to play three rehab games for triple-A Buffalo over the weekend. He could rejoin the Blue Jays on Monday when they start a three-game series with the San Diego Padres at Rogers Centre.
