BELLEVILLE, Ont. – Jean-Francois Berube stopped all 31 shots he faced as the Cleveland Monsters blanked the Belleville Senators 4-0 in American Hockey League play Friday.
Brendan Gaunce opened the scoring 7:47 into the game, while Billy Sweezey and Brett Gallant added goals for the Monsters (2-1-0) in the second period. Tyler Sikura rounded out the scoring with a goal 2:23 into the third.
Filip Gustavsson stopped 28-of-32 shots for the Senators (1-2-0).
Both sides struggled on the power play, with Cleveland going 0 for 3 with the man advantage and Belleville failing to capitalize on four chances.
The Sens and Monsters will meet for a rematch in Belleville, Ont., on Saturday.
